How to organize a cover-band gig
StoryBand (storyband.app) is a web app for musicians and band managers. Organize live gigs, lineups and setlists, and keep records of fees and musician payouts.
Keep the date, venue, client contact, schedule, lineup, setlist and agreed fees in one gig record. Confirm the people and arrangements before the show, then record client payments and musician payouts separately.

1. Write down the booking details
A date in a chat is not enough to prepare a performance. Record the venue address, client contact, arrival time, soundcheck, stage time, finish time and agreed fee. Distinguish a tentative booking from a confirmed arrangement.
Example schedule: arrival at 17:30, soundcheck at 18:00, first set at 19:00 and finish at 21:30. Agree breaks and load-out with the venue. These are sample times, not a requirement for every gig.
In StoryBand, create an event and keep the venue, timing, contact and fee with it. Start with the confirmed details and add the rest as the booking develops.
2. Confirm the lineup before preparing the final program
List the people needed for this performance, including substitutes. An invitation is not confirmation. Check who has accepted and follow up on missing responses before treating the lineup as ready.
StoryBand team plans support participant invitations and confirmations, including Telegram workflows. Personal Free is for a solo workflow; check the current plan details before inviting a team.
3. Prepare the program for this particular event
Choose songs that suit the venue, audience and confirmed lineup. Check keys, arrangements, running time and transitions. Keep a short reserve list for requests or a change in the schedule.
Use the event program and repertoire in StoryBand to keep the performance material together. Review the final version with the musicians before the gig.
4. Check payments after the show
Record what the client actually paid, what remains due and what each musician should receive. Mark a payout as paid only after the payment happened. A completed concert does not by itself prove that everyone has been paid.
Before closing the event, check three things: the client balance, each participant payout and any expenses. Keep the agreement visible so a later question does not require searching old messages.
Common questions
Can I organize a gig without a band subscription?
Personal Free supports an individual workflow within its limits. Team invitations, confirmations and shared work require a suitable team plan. See Pricing for the current limits.
Does StoryBand find gigs or pay the musicians for me?
StoryBand organizes your existing bookings and payment records. It is not a booking marketplace and recording a musician payout does not transfer money.
